Backpack The World
Explore a new country every month with maps, a newsletter, a recipe and a craft
Backpack The World is a cultural geography kit for kids and teens, roughly ages 8 to 15, that visits a new country every month. Guides Nate and his 70 pound golden doodle Zeus send each kit from their latest stop, and the materials were developed by educators and travelers. Nineteen countries are available to explore. Each kit includes a six-page newsletter covering the country's culture, geography, politics, business and sports, a recipe from the company's Around the World collection, world and country maps with virtual tours, and a craft or product from that country. Kids also get a currency conversion activity, country vocabulary and a backpack to store everything in. The Japan kit, for example, includes origami, Japanese phrases, yen conversion, music from popular bands and a letter from Nate about his stay. A three-month subscription covers Japan, France and Italy. The first kit ships from the United States three to five days after purchase, and each later kit ships on the 30-day anniversary of your first order. The listing does not state the shipping cost. You can pay monthly or prepay three, six or twelve months. It suits homeschool families, curious kids who like maps and food, and parents who want a monthly activity that teaches about the wider world.
