A Curated Thrift: The Curated Collection
A complete five-piece secondhand outfit, styled for you each month
Art Box Ogden
One large sculptural pillar candle, hand built in a Utah studio, each month
Art Box Ogden's candle box sends one large, hand-built pillar candle each month from the company's studio in Ogden, Utah. These are closer to decorative pieces than plain jar candles: the studio layers pre-sculpted wax elements, wax crystals and botanical-style details into complex, mosaic-like designs meant to look like something from a gallery. Each pillar is a paraffin candle, typically 3 by 4 or 3 by 6 inches, scented with fragrance oils and made for an average burn time of more than 50 hours. Every month follows a new theme, such as an enchanted forest or a secret garden, with its own colors and scent. A past May box featured a gnome among mushrooms on a bed of crystal-style wax, packed with a raw gemstone curio and apothecary matches. Subscribers also get first access to new seasonal designs. Candles are poured to order. Renewals happen on the 1st, and the shop says it ships within five business days of renewal, with boxes going out around the 15th per the shipping note. The listing says shipping is free within the United States, and the current Cratejoy code also covers free shipping. Pay monthly or prepay three, six or twelve months. It suits people who want a statement candle for a mantel or shelf and gift givers looking for something handmade.
